The Chomp Files - Where To Eat,What To Eat: Chick Chocolate,Mussoorie

The place was started in 1945 and is as of now,67 years old!
CHICK CHOCOLATE,MUSSOORIE
"one and only great shop of mussoorie.   - ms. Muzamil" reads the review on a pale yellow slip adorning the restaurant interiors...and this,is only one of those several positive reviews on several slips!
I was finally at Chick Chocolate,Mussoorie, the eatery I had heard quite a bit about, and with food being a disappointment(Correction: Huge disappointment!) at Hotel Green Castle, where I was staying,I was more eager than ever to find out whether the Queen Of The Hills was a culinary heaven or a gastronomic disaster.

For those of you,who were born and brought up in Mussoorie itself,I am sure Chick Chocolate needs no introduction. For the rest, this popular place is right on The Mall Road.Popular with children and youngsters, though people of all ages can be seen enjoying their food here.
Have a look at the cool decor that, along with the menu makes Chick Chocolate somewhat of a café style eatery.Apart from the menu written on the blackboard and planks(on the right side) ,they do soups, nuggets, pizzas, pastas, hot dogs, subs, and as the name suggests, gourmet chocolates!

As I waited for my order,I decided to try their gourmet chocolates, which they make in many different flavors. The staff of the place, including the owner and his family, are helpful and friendly. The chocolates are nice, though I will not go to the extent of saying that they are 'One of the best chocolate I have had',claimed by them to be a common authentic customer reaction. One of the best chocolate brownie sundaes I have had however,is their Chic-Choc! (More about it in a bit, keep reading!)
It was disappointing that my order took a while(Actually on both my visits) ,but once I dug in,I knew the wait was worth it!

Nutella Pancake at Chick Chocolate - probably the fluffiest pancake I have had in all my life!Other pancake toppings that they do are: Blueberry,Sugar,Syrup and Honey.

If you are at Chick Chocolate for breakfast, you can have a full-fledged European breakfast here. There are also Baked Beans & Cheese On Toast,Eggs(Any form) ,Pancakes and Juices.

For an additional Rs. 40,you can have a scoop of ice cream with your pancake.

Highly recommended at Chick Chocolate is Corn And Cheese Nuggets With Salad!Crisp, brown nuggets filled with sweet corn and melting cheese are served on a bed of creamy, mixed vegetable salad. The salad, consists of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, capsicum and corn - all dressed generously in mayonnaise!

At Rs. 90,meat lovers can enjoy Mutton Burger.I suggest vegetarians to skip burgers completely, they are rather ordinary.Try a yummy pizza instead!

One product that costumers of Chick Chocolate swear by,is the pizza! With crisp crust, tomato dressing that tastes fresh and just the right quantity of cheese,veggie/meat toppings,I would prefer it to one from nearby Domino's or Nirula's any day!

My pizza had tomatoes, onions, capsicum, sweet corn and mushrooms on it!The slightly sour taste of tomato dressing contrasted with the sweetness of ketchup as I had it!
After you are done with your meal(or even if still in the middle of it!) ,the options to wash it down are amazing! You can have Coffee(Hot,Cold) ,Smoothies,Shakes(Browny,Oreo,Mars - to name a few) and Hot Chocolate.

While the pastry cabinet here is filled with mouthwatering desserts and puddings like Black Forest pastries,Apple Pie,Banofee Pie,Fruit Cream and Just Jelly, you should NOT miss Chic-Choc,the signature Chik Chocolate brownie Sundae!

A warm brownie with gooey, moist interior.Scoops of creamy vanilla and chocolate ice creams on the side. All drizzled with chocolate sauce and sprinkled with chocolate chips. Can life get any better?

I loved this brownie sundae,Chic-Choc,rightly named after the eatery! The brownie was yummy, with perfect proportions of sugar and chocolate - not sickeningly sweet, like how brownies of some places are.
If it is a rainy evening, and you are in mood for hot coffee and some reflection,I suggest Original Sin along, the chocolate dessert.

All in all,the service maybe a bit slow(Also, not to be forgotten, self service!) ,but for that good food,Chick Chocolate is one place you cannot afford to miss if you are in Mussoorie!
